THE ULTIMATE AIRPORT DO'S AND DON'TS

ree

We all know the airport routine now if you've taken a flight anywhere before. You arrive, you check in your luggage, go through security the duty free and then you wait.

Dos

1. Pack only essential items. It's inevitable with all the extra security nowadays that your bags will be throughly searched, so it's best to pack light and avoid having to carry a mountain of your stuff through security.

2. Takes snacks. Airports have a captured audience, so they are able to put their prices up on food and drink easily, don't be sucked into this. Be organised and buy snacks before you go. Don't bother with drinks though as you won't be able to take these through security.

3. Bring a single clear sealable bag. This is to put anything up to 100ml into to go through security. Some airport charge you for these so it's best to bring one with you.

4. Bring a power bank. Some aeroplanes don't have charging facilities, so a power bank will literally save you life - trust me on this one!

5. Be organised. I always carry my travel documents and passport in a little handy folder so that they are all together - no one wants to loose anything important at an airport!

Don'ts

1. Don't wear awkward clothing. Big coats and chunky shoes are mostly to blame here. When you're going through security you will probably have to remove these, so wearing awkward to take off clothing items are just a pain really.

2. Be late. Don't leave going to your gate until the last minute, you never know when you might get lost. As soon as my gate number appears, I always go and figure out where my gate is in advance, so when I need to go there I won't get lost (hopefully!).

3. Be sucked into duty free prices. Ok, I must admit that duty free is my favourite part of an airport, but you've got to be careful, some items may actually be cheaper on the high street. If you going to get something in particular it's best to shop around first to make sure that duty free is actually the cheapest option.

4. Exchange money. I kid you not, the exchange rates at airports are ridiculous. Don't leave it until them to exchange your money, you definitely won't get a better deal!

5. Buy alcohol for the journey. One of the rookie mistakes that people make is when they buy alcohol for the aeroplane without realising that you can't consume it onboard - party poopers!

I hope these tips have helped any first time flyers or any of you guys who were looking for some handy airport tips...
