One of the best things about travelling solo is that you get to do what you want to do, when you want to do it. You don’t have to worry about doing what everyone else wants to do and you can spend your time really doing everything for YOU. If you go back to a decade ago, solo travel (especially with females) was something that was never really talked about, but today – it’s the in thing.
Travelling solo is a great way to cleanse your mind. Being out of your comfort zone and your everyday expectations of yourself is a fantastic thing as it opens up a whole new way of thinking and seeing the world. After all, what could be a bigger confidence boost than knowing you can survive in a completely foreign county on your own? Travelling alone is the perfect time to be mindful. Free from the distractions of daily life. You can instead focus your full attention on absorbing the present moment.
You’ll be away from normal life. You can truly be yourself and be free of life troubles and home drama. The only dramatic experience that you’re going to have is if you create one yourself. You won’t be with your usual friends, but don’t see that as a bad thing. When you’re away from your normal group of friends, you will be out of your comfort zone. You can’t sit back and let the conversation happen, you have to go find it, get involved and let your personality shine. You’ll meet people from all over the world and they will become friends for life. The best stories are told when they’re least expected…
Another beauty of solo travel is time. Time to be alone, time to reflect, time to test yourself. Granted, sometimes that’s uncomfortable. Sometimes, you simply feel lonely and awkward, but recognising those feelings and learning to overcome them is all part of the process. You get to know yourself in a new way, and you can beautifully cleanse your mind…
