MUNICH IS A HISTORY MEGA CITY

Munich is Germany’s answer to Disneyland. Sitting on the fringes of the snow-capped Bavarian Alps, multi-layered Munich is a city that you definitely don’t want to miss if you’re travelling around Germany.
The city today is the most visited destination in Germany after Berlin and it definitely presents two very different faces to the world. The first is that of a modern city, driven by technology and innovation. As it’s home to the world famous FC Bayern Munich, the football team whose 21st-century stadium looms on the city outskirts. The second is that of a deeply traditional town, best known for the beer festival Oktoberfest, gingerbread architecture and the warm German hospitality known as ‘Gemütlichkeit’.
Munich is also home to some extraordinary history, which ranges from neoclassicism to the Nazi era, and this makes the city a fascinating place to explore. There are lots of modern art galleries and glitzy nightclubs, as well as medieval churches and spectacular palaces, riverside cafés and historic theatres. There’s something for everyone here.
I’d recommend taking a bike tour around the city, you’re able to cover a large area in a few hours and it’s lovely to see the inner city as well as it’s outskirts. It’s also a great way to see the main sights in the city if you don’t have a lot of time there - the guys on the bike tour that I did were amazing and you’re sure to have a great time with them! One of the other most important places to visit is Dachau Concentration Camp. It’s a Mecca for history and education. I can’t describe the feeling of great sadness and emptiness you will feel there, but it’s a must see in the city.
Germany’s unofficial southern capital is a flourishing success story. The city surely lives up to it’s Alpine cliches and Bavarian traditions, and that’s why it’s a city not to forget in the whole of Europe, nevermind Germany...
